Bandai Master Grade 1/100 RX178 Mk. II Gundam Ver. 2.0

RX178 Mk. II Gundam

Initially, there were three prototype mobile suits, the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II, developed by the Titans in UC 0087. Generally based on the original RX-78-2 Gundam, the Gundam Mk-II featured a "movable frame", thus integrating the mobile suit's frame design together with weapons system, instead of adding weapons to a mobile suit as an afterthought. The main objective was to create a mobile suit which will be effective in melee combat. As a consequence, the designers has reduced the armor and the weapons payload.

The Gundam Mk. II was actually painted in the black and blue scheme, according to the Titans' color. The unit used by the Anti-Earth Union Group, AEUG, was actually stolen from the Titans. Later, the stolen unit was re-painted to the blue-on-white color scheme. This was to be Kamille Bidan's mobile suit before he went on to pilot the MSZ-006 Zeta later on.

The Gunpla Kit : Mk. II Gundam Ver. 2.0

The MK. II Gundam in its version 2.0 form introduces:

  • Greater posing ability due to the re-designed knees, feet, lower arms

  • Forward and backwards wrist movements

  • A action base stand which can be combined with the Zeta Ver. 2.0 's catapult display stand

  • In-scale figures (1 pilot and 2 maintenance crew)

  • A more updated look compared to the previous Mk. II

The Mk. II Ver. 2.0, seems to be designed with the Perfect Grade version as the reference point. It has greater freedom of action poses to the point of being able to pose "Char's Comet Attack". Talk about having a PG Mk. II lite.

Note:  Identical to the Mk. II AEUG, the Mk. II Version 2.0 Titans unit was also released in a dark blue, black, red and yellow molding with its own markings. In November 2008, Bandai  released Master Grade 1/100 Mk. II Gundam Ver. 2.0 AEUG HD Color Limited Edition and the Master Grade 1/100 Mk. II Gundam Ver. 2.0 Titans HD Color Limited Edition to commemorate the Blu-ray release of the Mobile Suit Z Gundam Memorial Box Part I. Both are molded in gloss color with different set of markings.
