Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen – Sideways

September 19th, 2009

In conjuction with the 2009’s summer action hit Transformers : Revenge of The Fallen, Hasbro released the Decepticon,  Sideways in Deluxe format. We may recall, Sideways was just plain running away from the Autobots and the NEST strike team in Shanghai, before getting sliced in two by Sideswipe.

Although it was a bit part for Sideways, he is one hot Deluxe toy as is vehicle mode is a dark silver sports car. Car enthusiasts will  say that, Sideways is a modified (cosmetically) Audi R8 Sports Coupe.

People were looking high and low for this guy. Fans were just snapping up Sideways together with Sideswipe. Needless to say Sideswipe was more popular, due to the reasons, he was the good guy plus h is vehicle mode is a concept car. As for me, Sideways looks cool regardless,of him getting having a Decepticon badge or  a bit part in the movie.

Gundam 00V: GN-001/hs-A01 Avalanche Exia

August 13th, 2009

Well, since my last post about using the Mr. Metal Color, I am pleased to say that I have completed the 1/100 GN-001/hs-A01 Gundam Avalanche Exia from the Gundam 00V. I’ve made some changes to the kit as retaining the chest vent from the Exia instead of going along with the pieces for the Avalanche Exia. In addition, I’ve even changed the color scheme. In my humble opinion, the Avalanche Exia has got too many yellow sections. I have also reduced the amount of red used.

Also, I’ve started to try to use some metal paints on this Gunpla. Besides the  GN Sword, I’ve also tried the brass paint for the thrusters.  Some aluminum paint was used for the eyes, the lower arm modules, the chest orb, the sides of the head plus a bit for the GN Drive.  Since the Gunpla kit doesn’t provide green colored-translucent plastics, I used Tamiya’s clear green to solve that.

Overall a nice kit though it is definitely top heavy.  Some removable adhesive, will help by sticking them to the feet. You have been forewarned ;) . Click here for the GN-001/hs-A01 Gundam Avalanche Exia review.

First Try at Mr. Metal Colors

August 5th, 2009

After a long while, I am finally writing again. Well, what I have been doing? Nothing much as it is the usual day in, day out routine. In between, I’ve managed to try out some stuff on my work-in-progress Gunpla kit.

Basically, I tried to use the GSI Creos’ Mr. Metal Color on a few parts of the work-in-progress Gunpla kit. It definitely is a bit tedious as there are a few steps to work on.  Regardless, the result is really satisfying, to say the very least. Also, I am not telling on what is that work-in-progress Gunpla kit. You will know when you visit the link below.

For the steps and some photos, click here,  Working with Mr. Metal Color.

Special thanks to Code, Snake King Adrian and SF for their sharing.

Playarts Cloud Strife and Fenrir

July 17th, 2009

I have added some photos of Playarts Actions Figure No. 0 featuring Cloud Strife and his bike Fenrir. The designs are based on the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children CGI film. Coincidentally, Fenrir happens to be a the name of a huge wolf from the Norse Mythology.

Personally, I’ve wanted the Fenrir since I watched the movie and it looks awesome. Click here to view the write up and photos of the cool  Cloud and Fenrir set.

Tamiya Full View Ferrari F2001

June 28th, 2009

It seemed not so long long ago when I was searching around for this kit after getting hooked at just seeing the Tamiya’s Ferrari F2000 kit. Since money was a concern, I decide to get the latest version which was the F2001 and a Full View version at that. Why a transparent kit? As a noob, I do not want to risk any major “oooops” that would “spoil” this beautiful machine. Okaaay, perhaps another reason was, I don’t want to go thru the trouble to paint it. ;)

According to the guy who sold the kit to me, the shop only brought in about 2 dozens and had it distributed to a few other branches. Basically, it’s the last one that is available at that shop, which is also the head office. (Hmm, Sales talk, I presume). Without further hesitation, I bought it! (August 2003, how long ago was that, eh?)

LEGO Ferrari F1 Racer 1:8

June 4th, 2009

Well, I ‘ve finally, uploaded the page on the LEGO Ferrari F1 Racer 1:8. It seems  like only a few months ago that both my younger brother and I spent time to assemble this LEGO set together.

We bought it from a departmental store which offered it for a 20% discount back in December 2007. Guess how long we took to assemble it? 3 weeks plus!! Okay, we only spent a couple of hours every other day in building the Formula 1 car replica. It’s really big!! (remember to have a storage place for such big display items, or else….).

PS. Just for the record, we are fans of the Scuderia Ferrari. Forza Ferrari!!

Revenge of The Fallen frenzy

June 3rd, 2009

May 30th, 2009, has come and gone. The aftermath of that day chosen by Hasbro? (FYI, it’s the worldwide launch date for ROTF, Revenge of The Fallen and no, it is not Rolling on The Floor, etc. )

Transfans (Transformers fans) has bee quick to go on a frenzy snapping up upcoming Revenge of The Fallen toys/figures. Needless to say,  ol’ big bot, Optimus Prime (Leader Class) was the hottest and the fastest of the shelf. Ditto for Megatron, he is looking stockier while Optimus is slimmer.

Strangely the Voyager Class version was not as in demand. The honours go to The Fallen. Looks unique. And of course, in less quantities as I only found one after opening 2 cases (each case consists 4 units of Voyager Class TFs)

Bumblebee’s popularity seems to be going through a dip. Why? Fans are aiming for the Deluxe Class’ silver bots. Sideswipe (Autobot) and Sideways (Decepticon).  They really look cool and sleek.

Which Transformers did you get, Transfans? And most important of all, let’s see what the upcoming movie has got for us, shall we?

Unzipped : A True Story

May 25th, 2009

Well, just when one thought that the past week was about to be classified as a Non-event, something happened. And of all the boo – boos, it had to be in the public too..

Yep, I suffered “wardrobe malfunction” in public. Does that mean I get tojoin the big leagues like Janet Jackson. Hmm..okay, most likely not. Here goes..

I was waiting at the bus stop after work, which something made me look down..and there the barn door was wide opened.  With the quick reflexes, I dashed away from the bus stop using my backpack  as body armor in a tactical retreat to assess the damage.

I untucked my shirt to do a cover-up job. Brilliant!!! Hope I don’t suffer any Marilyn Monroe-moments with the wind blowing suddenly. And luckily the shirt was long enough to..ermmm..cover my modesty. Gosh, I’ve never been so glad to reach home as fast as the bus could take me.

Moral of the story:
Check the barn door’s lock aka the zipper
Wear undies which is the same color as the pants/shorts/jeans..Camouflage!!
Wear a shirt that is long enough to cover up..

Well, that was my week..
